A blog worth mentioning.

One of my friends,  Silent Pages  has an amazing blog that you should go and stalk read. She always has interesting posts about writing, how to get out of doomy and gloomy stories/scenes, and much more advice that any serious writer should take into consideration. Do it: go read her! Then......come back to me ^_^

A contest!

My good friend  Kelsey Sutton  is hosting a contest. The random winner gets to win a copy of Possession by Elana Johnson: Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even  think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself. But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn. This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has ...

Hey! I'm actually talented.

I'm part of the  Young Writers Society , a site for your authors trying to make their way. I've learned so much from them. How to write. What to include, what to leave out. How to show, not tell. The idea of this site is to review other people's works, constructively, and you may post your work as well, and expect to have it reviewed. You need to be willing to take criticism  . . . but that's also a lesson of life, is it not? I've posted my whole novel online, my WIP (work in progress), chapter by chapter. And now I'm editing it. One of the users came up to me and said she was up to chapter 14 of it, and that so far she was enjoying it. I decided to go see what chapter 14 is: and I actually got hooked on my own story. It seems I was reading it with fresh eyes, and I was liking what I could see. I clicked onto the next chapter, and the next, until I had to get off. And I realised this: I'm talented! I actually like what I read. So why do I feel like I'm f...

King Kong

I absolutely adore this movie. The recent one, that is. It ties into the first blog post I wrote about characters I love. Jack Driscoll aka Adrien Brody is brilliant in this. He is a writer, the quiet type who does what he loves. But for the love of a woman, he changes, becomes a little more heroic. He is alive to me in ways every day people are not. He's willing to risk everything for love. And isn't that what every woman wants? What I love the most, is that he's a skinny little man, really nothing much to look at, so you wouldn't expect him to be heroic, in this day and age where brawn is everything. How about you guys? What kind of character, such as Jack Driscoll, do you love? And do you think it's really only the actor playing him that could have brought him alive? Tanya
